Pilates In Pregnancy

Many mums-to-be want to continue to exercise right up until baby's arrival and because Pilates is low impact and gentle it is considered to be one of the best forms of exercise while pregnant and after your 'happy event' it will help regain your pre-baby figure.

There are different excersises for each trimester and because there is a focus on pelvic floor strengthening and postural awareness, Pilates helps reduce your risk of suffering from urinary incontinence, lower back and joint pain in the later months and post natal.

The improvement in muscle tone and circulation gained through practising pilates is of great value during labour

as improved circulation allows an increased oxygen supply to the womb and this is less distressing for the baby. The breathing techniques used in Pilates can also help

with the control of breathing during childbirth.
